After my trip to BangPain Palace, I decided to travel 25 km more to visit one of the most impressive ruins in Thailand. This temple is famously known as Wat Chai Wattanaram. This time the sky seems a bit better compared to my recent shots in BangPain :).

The shot was taken in RAW, at F-9,1/320 exposure with ISO set to 200. I use Photoshop CS3 in PP. The man standing besides the prang gives you an idea how tall these prangs are, usually the prangs measure between 15 and 40 meters in height.

About the temple
Wat Chai Wattanaram was built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong during the later period of Ayutthaya. It was built to commemorate his mother's hometown and to celebrate his coronation. The main prang is surrounded by many lesser prangs and towers in eight directions. The main prang is believed to contain relics of the Lord Buddha. Another theory is that it was also built to commemorate yet another victory of the Khmer, therefore going back in using Khmer architecture.

Hi Albert

Clean and crisp colours, sharpness great, liked how you have blurred some off your clouds.
Shadows from trees onto the grass adds a good foreground.
Good note to accompany image. Well done
Regards
Jim

It's certainly a very striking image but looks too processed and unnatural for my tastes. Vibrant colours, but maybe a little bit over the top.

Hi Albert,
A classic view of the Wat, here i like the shadows of the trees doing an excellent FG and lead in to the picture... All the gold from Ayutthaya is now adorning the pagodas of Burma... They even call Thailand 'Ayutya' in Burmese language!
Greetings from Bangkok

HI Albert. This an excellent capture thanks to the beautiful weather and your ability to catch both shadows and temple within the composition. Thanks. Tibo

hello Albertz
this is a very nice picture of this temple!I like the way it is standing out the beautiful sky,and I like the shadows on the foreground! There is a beautiful soft effect in the clouds!I wonder if you have put a little bit too much sharpness on the temple, because it doesn't seem very natural! But its golden colours is superb, and anyway, the photo is very nice!
Have a nice day.
Pascale

Hi Albert,
I like these strong and bold colours with high contrast. Espcially what we see in the foreground on the grass with the shadow from the trees, i like that part a lot.
The red from the ruins is contrasting nice to the blue sky, a strong key in this picture, i like it.
Regards, Henk

Hi Albert!

Really impressive architecture photography! The palace itself is outstanding, but your photo has captured all of its beauty and more! Great framing and composition, brilliant colours, top quality definition, but in my humble opinions the most impressive part are the shadows of the trees that seem to point to the palace. Congratulations!

Bonsoir Albert
très belle photo. Le contraste des couleurs me plait bien et permet de donner du relief à ce superbe paysage. L'architecture du temple est très impressionnante. Beau travail.

Hello Albert,

Your view of temple is spectacular with between green and blue while adding shadows on grasses. Great addition of visitor for helping us scale your view and detailed notes. Excellent clarity in natural colors and sharpness. Congratulations.

Best Regards,

Albert,
a very good shot with the shadows working perfectly as an interesting foreground element and catching enough attention and balancing well the image with the temple in the background and the clouds towering as a backdrop.
A wonderful iamge that I wish I could have in my collection :-)

Hi Albert

I've taken several shots of this temple in Ayutthaya, but never uploaded any of them. Something to do, when I get back to Australia. Wonderful blue sky here, with superb sharpness. Tfs!

Salut Albert,

Bravo !!

hello Albert,
I like a lot how the shadows in the foreground create intricate patterns, I like a lot how you have composed the photo with strong layers of colours and content, I like a lot the saturated lush colours, especially the golden green, but I cannot help the feeling that the image is oversharpened. I see some edges around the clouds, although that might be compression artefact, since the rest of the sky and clouds are very smooth, but the details in the building and people seem to disappear under the sharp edges, with the dizzying result. I realise that such an elaborate architecture is difficult to photograph from the distance, but I might try little less sharpening. still, very god work.

with best regards,
Kristine

The ruins are really great, but your photo became unic because of those shadows you captured to the foreground. Very nice!

Hi Albert,
Nice image of these rising temple structures, been there too and I see you got excellent weather conditions on that day so that the temple reds glow under the light. Clouds look a bit strange, did you apply neat image or other noise reduction software here ?
Have a nice day JY

Hi Albert
Beautiful capture. I like the light and colours. Interesting architecture.
Regards

Hello Albert,
A beautiful capture of this beautiful structure!
I admire the details in the architecture, and notice the shadow play in front...
A well balanced composition, where the white cloud is an eye-catcher!
Greetings,
