Waiting for my midnight flight to Istanbul I noticed this unusual abstract pattern reflected in the walls of the new Bangkok Airport. The time was near midnight so the airport was practically deserted.

With the reflections of the seats in the curved windows of the barrel-vaulted ceiling, there are both abstract and geometric patterns that grab one's attention. The airport is sprawling, far beyond anything I expected. I remember a few colossal statues that dominate the hall.
Around 22 July 2010 I spent 5-6 hours at this immense airport, after flying in from Phuket. We were going to fly New Delhi, kill another 5-6 hours and take off, over the North Pole for Chicago, and then onto Washington, DC. It turned out to be a 40 hour journey.
It's always a pleasure to see images of places I know.

The windows are framing well the reflections. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the reflections. The high ISO is helping to dispaky the scene. Have a nice day.

The best part is.. the reflection of the seats are so clear on the glass. Excellent and graphic image created by the patterns of the lounge seats.Nice take and well seen.

Brilliant shot! Very creative and unique way of presenting the place. Perfectly cropped and composed based on the curves and lines. Very well done! Like it!

really cool graphic image. I like the fact that there are no people. That makes it look even more abstract.
Another good thing is that you didn´t have a straight POV but from the side.

Nice work with this one...Hats off. The outcome is quite minimalistic with an undeniable artistic touch. Well seen. Like a window to a secret parallel world.
I like the framing you opted for. The POV is excellent as well.

Hi Chris, So it is the beginning of your Turkish adventure. I can imagine your curiosity about new place and job. interesting view of the empty airport, usually so busy. Well seen.
I was twice on this airport in 2011 but I remember only the big Thai guardians.

Good Morning Chris,
Photographers are so alert to this type of opportunity, even at midnight! You have done well to not only see this excellent abstract pattern but compose it so nicely in camera.
Have a lovely Sunday,

I also spent some time in Bangkok airport although I didn't manage to capture any images as interesting as this one. Framing is perfect and the graphical lines beautifully rendered. Spot on exposure.

I've looked with a lot attention, I think that I see the chairs in the airport hall in the reflections of the windows.
This is a extraordinarily picture through the repetition of the different windows.
This is perfect for excellent perspective .
Excellent composition, nice captured.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice week,

You have spotted this reflection beautifully with the airport chairs on the square ceilings. Lovely pattern with stunning graphics effect in the frame.
Thanks and have a nice day.

very interesting shot.
I like that you took advantage of your boring time waiting to capture some of the scenes in the airport...I should do that more often too!
Its even better when the viewer scrolls up or down the screen, the vertical lines move across the frame...very cool effect.
Brings back memories for me when i was in the Bangkok airport...i remember the smog being so thick that it took only a few seconds for the planes to disappear after take off!! yikes!!

Good tight frame, excellent graphism and repeating shapes and reflections. I think this type of composition really lends itself to B&W, but the colour version looks pretty good to me.
Thanks for sharing
