Another Mon ethnic schoolgirl from a primary school of Palai Japan village near Thai-Burma border. I took this snapshot while she's naturally curious upon visitors on that day.
She's wearing Burmese makeup aka Thanakha on her cheeks. Thanakha, made from fragrant bark is ground into a powder, mixed with water and applied onto the cheeks. In Burma, Burmese women believe Thanakha protects the skin against the sun and improves the complexion. |
