Shy Thai Boy Photo

Photographer’s Note

I was visiting a friend in Thailand about three years ago while he was doing a two and a half year stint in the Peace Corp. I was especially excited to see the "real" Thailand versus what most of my friends had experienced, the touristy part of Thailand.

We had just arrived in the village where he was stationed, about five hours outside of bangkok and I was meeting some of the people of the town.

This boy was so adorable and painfully shy and although I gave him an encouraging wave and smile he decided that he would be much safer behind his little plastic bike.

The children of Thailand were such a pleasure to photograph as they are genuinely excited to see you and want to really share their world with you. I tried to capture this little guy in his world, just as he was. No posing, just exactly what he felt at that moment.

Welcome and congratulations for your first image in TE.

I think that you have obtained a very spontaneous
and natural photo of the child with his bicycle,
and in addition to being a good picture of light
and contrasts it has this point of delight that
the children transmit in his games.

I like much the result and I wait that this should
be the beginning of a way long and full of good works.

This shot is for me the best of your galler today, because we understand the feeling of this shy boy who is hiding behind his bike, but also would liked to be taken in the picture.
You shot is sharp on the subject and the background is blurred: it helps focus on what is important in your picture. points that should be enhanced: you cut the back of the front wheel of the bike, and your shot is too grey (no real white and black).
