[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After having visited the ruined Mon temple, in our boat, we were trying to reach the shore before being caught in a storm that was blowing in from the mountains. We passed this group of Mon tribe’s people that had just been dropped off by a boat. They were scampering up the bank, trying to reach their huts before the storm. You can see how far the water of the lake has receded in recent years. Before, their huts were at the water’s edge and the gravel bank was under water. I wonder how watertight their rattan huts would be in a storm.

superb light, Kevin, wonderful composition in Z, with the diagonal of the bank creating a pictorial dynamic, while leading to the vilagers, themselves pointing us to the village houses. Funny contrast between the looming darkness and the happy colours of the boat and shirt.

I like the lack of pretense you lend to your photo-taking, you aim at simplicity, you are not trying to charge your pix, nor your comments, with great social meanings to make sure everyone knows how so sensitive you are, but with your notes, we have no doubt you share very much the life of the people who have welcomed you to their country. I am sorry that too few can see this.

A really nice composition Kevin - I like the combination of these two triangles and the oblong - three strong shapes which provide the back bone of the image - Hermann (Fixfocus) has been using this combination - but with the oblong at the top of the picture - for recent posts along the River Rhine - I'd not thought consciosly of looking for this arrangement before. I find the colours here just a touch too strong but the image does convey that whole feel of intense light one gets in sunny stormlight.

best wishes Kev

I missed this one altogether Kevin, and I apologise for it, because it's a another fine picture from that area of Thailand that you rnder so well. Love the brilliant RED of the chapie in the boat as well as the bright GREEN shirt f one of the folks on the shore, all set against the most threatening sky I have ever seen...Hope this finds you well, Francis
