Photographer’s Note
While staying in Kanchanaburi, the second destination place during our visit to Thailand, we decided to go on a day trip to Sai Yok National Park, located around 100km from the city. Soon after leaving Kanchanaburi, we could admire beautiful landscapes of mountainous areas covered in dense junge. The main reason for our trip was a waterfall - Sai Yok Yai, which was said to be very impressive according to all travel agency representatives who did their best to persuade us to go with them on an organised trip to the area. We went there on our own and, surprisingly, the waterfall turned out to be a sheer disappointment - there was a mere stream of water falling down the rock... Nevertheless, the sorrounding mountains made up for the lack of the expected dramatic waterfall, so the trip was not a complete failure after all.
This photo was taken from a pavement bar where we drank a bottle of coke to help ourselves survive the unbearable heat. It was the first time we had seen mountainous regions of Thailand, which was a nice break from the flat scenery that prevails in this distand country.
