Photographer’s Note
The photo was taken in Kanchanaburi which is a province along the Myanmar border in the West some 130 kilometers from Bangkok. The attractions of Kanchanaburi are the historic railway bridge built by the Japanese during WW II, scenic Kwae Yai and Kwae Noir Rivers, cave shrines, Buddhist monasteries, hill tribe villages. The girl comes from the tribe called MON which consists of refuges from Burma who live in very basic and pure conditions but still are enjoying life. The forefathers of the Mon tribe moved to Ratchaburi during the first Rattanakosin period and lived beside the Mae Klong River . Even now ,they continue to follow their old tradition of paying respect to the household spirits, and the spirits of their ancestors. They are also very serious about their Buddhist religion, believing that they were the first race to bring Buddhism from India.
The Mon's most important ceremony is called "Songkran Cho Mon" or "Mon New Year", and is usually held about one week after Thai Songkran. They have many interesting games, most notably "Mon Saba" which is a pitch-and-toss game. I think it is wonderful to know such great culture and these friendly people who do not have much but still are very open and ready to invite You for tea.

Hi Agnieszka,
Lovely little girl so absorbed in whatever has captured her attention. I really like your composition off centre and with the poles dividing the frame, and the clarity of the focus on her is excellent.

Agnieszka: great portrait, note. I noticed the Burmese flavor of the image right off - with the thanaka mud on the kid's face. Sharp and expressive,c

Bonjour Agnieszka,
Charming portrait. Very beautiful light. The division of the photo with these wooden fragments gives a beautiful originality of composition. I like the dreamy glance of the child.
Congratulations

Dear Agnieszka,
When i was in Kanchanaburi i saw a lot of beautiful people, but none as beautiful as this girl...what a beauty, what a perfect face, so smooth, so soft and brought by you in superb dark skintones.
Those eyes, the pose, your framing, it all fits wonderful in here. A kind of question mark on her forehead, funny but nice detail.
You did a great job here...what glass did you used, must be something good because the picture looks damn good..!!!
Regards, Henk

Hi Agnieszka,
you have skills I lack of completelly. Skills to capture the innocence of childs expresion. This photo, this motive is absolutely beautiful. And I mean beautiful in most essential way. Her dark eyes, serious look and such a warm gentle light...all together make most wonderful compliment to her and for the photographer providing photo of highest quality and great sense how to capture the expression.
Warm regards,
Jeri
