The Bridge on the River Kwai, is 2 km to the left, of where this was taken. There are several popular backpacker guesthouses & rafthouses, along this northern section of the river. This part of the town of Kanchanaburi, is not a bad place, to enjoy a cold Singha beer (or 2).

Hello Chris, this is a very beautiful place and for sure I will enjoy a beer there, or two...and maybe three.... I like the mouvement of the water, it seems that the water is the only thing moving there in the peaceful place. Thanks

Good shot. In Brazil these houses of simple wooden construction, often on stilts, are named "palafitas". Nice composition, excellent colors and reflections. Well done.

A refreshing and interesting houses though the posts look quite flimsy. Nice POV and the variety of green tones are very relaxing for the eyes. The water looks tempting for a dip. Beautiful shot!! Have a nice day.

I love the way the Thais organise their waterfronts, good illustration of this example.

I like this shot a lot. These kinds of scenes are so foreign for me, I am very impressed that people live in houses like this one. Must be just a tad humid in the basement ;-)
I really enjoyed this one, I spend a lot of time looking at it. Thanks!

Great shot Chris - it communicates a lot of atmosphere and sense of place. I almost expect to see Alec Guiness walk out of the house! Great work!

What an interesting place you have depicted here. This rambling collection of little houses built into the slope beckon one indeed to enjoy a drink or just meditate and watch the water. I love the hues and tones here. The rafthouse on the left nicely balances the scene. Well seen and captured.

Hi Chris. Interesting how this riverside arrangement of housing looks more and more organized the longer one looks at it. Again the beautiful colors in the bright light, and the rippled water reflections are a good add in the front.

nice picture of the housing near the river.

Chris an excellent photo showing how people live. Very clear and great POV showing how close the house is to the water. I have to ask how do these people manage when the storms come? Does the water ever rise above this level? Seems so dangerous to live like this so close to the water! A great photo for your gallery.

Hi Chris. I might have to stop even longer than 2 beers with this beautiful setting! You can really tell this place has character. The turquoise water and reflections really put this shot over the top. Very nice one Chris!

Hi Chris, I enjoy the view of the "long legged houses". You have well captured the magic three in a row in this picture. Good perspective view and nice contrast.

I remember ever having drunk singha beer in a bar on the coast here (really!). Not bad at all, but I think it would have tasted better in this settting. Very special houses! Nicely taken. Thanks for sharing.
