Taken from one of the many floating restaurants in the River Kwai. This is the daily tourist train from Bangkok, crossing the infamous bridge. It terminates at Nam Tok (waterfall), & returns to Hua Lamphong Station in Bangkok.
The restaurants serve Thai shrimp patties, Tod Mon Pla (Thai fish cakes) & Singha Beer.

you are a lucky man ;o) you have succeeded to catch the bridge with the train...I like this picture, nicely composed. There beautiful and vivid colors inside.

Interesting scene and one with a past. The scene must have changed from that of hardship to the more vibrant tourist site and this shot have shown that change. The atmosphere and colours are great and I also like the small ripples reflecting the blue of the sky. Well done!! Syabas!

Very good and just in time with the train!
The colors are great but a little bit saturated..

Good decisive moment, of course having the train crossing the bridge adds a strong dose of interest to this famous place, I like here too how the side light strikes the left side.
Have a nice day,

Did you ever thought of open
a new theme "Pictures taken out of a restaurant or a bar" ? ;-)))
Nice compo with good use of the space.
Excellent sharpness and color saturation.
The train on the bridge is a fine extra.

Don't think I ever saw the bridge with a train on it, very nice catch Chris. Nice colors, particularly in the foreground with the boats and the reflections on the river. Also a quite good perspective being built.

Hi Chris. This is the first time I've ever seen a shot from this famous river. The colors and reflections are spectacular. Too bad about the sky. Oh well, it's still a fine shot, congrats Chris. I'm jealous of you being able to visit such a beautiful place.

I whistle to this place of course.
Contrasted and colored composition for this interesting place, a big smile also to the shrimp patties, I like very much.

Hi Chris, A nice capture. I get the feeling that the bridge is quite crowded: the train plus many people outside. Nice reflections on the water. Good contrast and nice saturation.

Do you know what, I've seen so many shots of this bridge, but I think this is the first which actually has a train on it. Being a SRT fan, always pleased to see examples of their empire.
MoosicMan (1231) 2005-07-01 7:38
Nice one, Chris, it's almost surreal with these vivid contrasts in the water. Is that the same bridge on the River Kwai of celluloid fame?
Jeppe (18654) 2005-07-01 14:21
Sound like a fine place to have a meal - That movie made the river Kwai quite famous and I beleive it was based on a true story - I like the moode on this shot with very special reflections in the water - thanks Chris.

This is a great shot of this bridge.
You captured the picture at the perfect time, when the train was on it.
The point of view is well chosen.
The light is great and the colors are fine, but a little over saturated I think.
It seems that there is an intense life here, with all these restaurants.
john_c (24662) 2005-07-07 20:03
A well composed, colourful scene. The contrasting colours on the water much enhance this shot, and you have nicely captured the train to deflect the eye from the unattractive concrete pillars of the bridge. Very well seen and rendered.

Ciao! Very interesting to see that famous bridge! I find very curious the train and all the people aside.
It's a pity that the image looks a bit overexposed, I notice it in the sky, together with other white parts, and the lack of definition in the truss structure of the bridge.
