Photographer's Note
The famous film "Bridge on the River Kwai" was shot in Sri Lanka, but this is the real bridge of the story.
It was built during the World War II by the war prisoners, following the orders of the Japanese, who wanted to connect Thailand to Burma by railway, to avoid the dangers of the sea.
This is not the bridge we see on the film, but it's the real one, and it became so famous that lots of tourists stop there everyday to watch it, cross it and even to take the train for a short trip along the famous death railway.
The bridge we see today has been rebuilt after the war, once that three sections of the original one have been destroyed by aerial bombings.
On the photo we can see the tourists crossing the bridge, while two locals sit on the wall, resting. It was a very hot rainy day.

Hello Ana,
The bridge is really one of the most famous war bridges in the world.Useful notes regarding the history of the bridge. The locals are Thai or Burmese its not clear but they seem to be enjoying the day with the sleeping dog.Good coverage and framing.TFS.
Happy Valentines Day to you.
Cheers

Hello Ana,
you´ve combined well two different aspects-one is the view of this bridge and the second is the life going around it.I like this juxtaposition. It´s also amazing, that not so big bridge was so important during WW2.Your presentation of the scene is superb. It´s well composed and framed. Also quality is first class.
Kind regards
Krzysztof

Amazing that this bridge is so famous, despite the fact that it was never actually on screen! We have a similar thing in Boston; the popular television show 'Cheers' is based on a Boston bar, but the bar in the show is not the same one it was based on. Still, tourists flock to Cheers, even though it looks quite different inside.
Nice look at the bridge while including local life - two men and a sleeping dog. The man in blue appears to be waving for the camera as well! Thanks.

Hola Ana, So this is the real bridge on the river Kwai. I haven't seen the film and didn't go in this place, as I do not look at the war movies. Nice view. The sleeping dog looks like the dogs everywhere. i see that it is possible to go also by boat there.
Interesting note.
Warm regrads
Malgo
