Yesterday was our last day of school for the schoolyear 2005-2006. We got to meet all of my students and sign each other's yearbook.
This student, Jooi, is one of my favorite models. I have many pictures of her posted in TL. I asked her to pose for me again...one last time. She said if it's okay if she cries. I said YES.
Graduation is a time of mixed emotions. Happiness tinge with sadness. Excitement tintedwith anxiety. Thanks to Jooi for posing for me and allowing me to capture her rich expressive face.

Hello Manuel, this is a stunning portrait. You have captured her sadness beautifully if one can say that in the right circumstances this is a beautiful emotion. Your lighting brings out the features of her face well and is excellently framed by her headscarf. The black and white image fits the mood perfectly.

Beautiful portrait of this young woman. The sorrowful parting is clearly expressed in her eyes. Well done.

Belíssimo retrato, a expressão no rosto da menina, a nitidez, o contraste, tudo perfeito.

Awsome portrait with a sad looking in her crying face. I had yesterday also graduation day and it interesting to learn how such an event is experienced in different part of the world. None of our graduates had such mixed feelings like Jooi.

Hi Manuel. A most arresting face. Even the gesture of modesty - partially covering her face- adds depth to her personality and the emotions she is feeling. Wonderful gradation of skin tone and excellent use of light. Stunning model to start with. Regards, Klaudio

Stunning, as usual. Everythign about this image seems to just jump from the screen. I wish it was possible to give more than a 'big smile', as this most defintely deserves something extra.

Manny, this is a masterpiece of a portrait. The face as well as the name suggests she is Indian/Bangladeshi. Jooi= Jasemine.

That's some expression! She looks like she just survived a catastrophy what if its only a graduation. Manny you have this amazing knack for getting the most out of a given moment. Really envy you for that... :)

Hi Manny, this is such an expressive photo, it just breaks my heart to look at it! The shining tear running down her cheek, and the big dark eyes.... Excellent composition. Thanks for sharing!

Great B/w effect.

There are photos that doesn't need a story. To me, this is one of them. When I saw the photo I was thinking of a lot of reasons why she would be crying, except graduation.
And how wonderful she wanted to pose. I guess most girls (and boys) would refuse. Thanks!
