Floating market, a photo from Bangkok, Central

Photographer's Note

Several floating markets,(Talaat naam),in and around Bankok offer the tourists a picture-post card image of the traditional Thai way of life. Small woden boats laden with fruits, flowers, vegetable and other produce make a colourful and bustling scene at market time. The boats are inevitabely paddled by Thai women in blue farmer's garp and flat-topped conical hats.
The floating markets are still important commercial centers for those living along the banks of "klongs" with no road access.

i like this scene Robert, but the colours don't look too good, just look at the girls lips... too bright

I think you did a nice job with this, Robert. I can see you had a few things working against you, namely the noonday sunlight and the broad area of dull water. The bright colors stand out against their background, but the over-lighting tends to bring up the grey and subtract from the brilliant colors of the objects. I think you would have had better results in lower light.. although I understand you can't always just stand around waiting for the sun to move :)

Still, you have captured well the busy-ness of the market place. By focusing on the boat and keeping the "clutter" in the periphery, you managed to create a pleasant scene and a well executed composition.

What a wonderful colorful scene from the Far East that is foreign to the West with all the Walmarts etc.

The picture perfectly show the life along the floating market in Thailand.
Good contrast of red fruites, fine colors of numerus hats on side, inspite of low light around.
