Photographer's Note
Bhumibol Adulyadej is the current King of Thailand. He is known as Rama IX. Having reigned since 9 June 1946, he is the world's longest-serving current head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history. He is the wealthiest man in Thailand and the world's wealthiest royal.
Bhumibol is a painter, musician, photographer, author and translator. His book Phra Mahachanok is based on a traditional Jataka story of Buddhist scripture. The Story of Thong Daeng is the story of his dog Thong Daeng. Bhumibol is an accomplished jazz musician and composer, particularly for his works on the alto saxophone. He was the first Asian composer awarded honorary membership of the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna at the age of 32. He used to play jazz music on air on the Or Sor radio station. In his travels, he has played with such jazz legends as Benny Goodman, Jack Teagarden, Lionel Hampton, Maynard Ferguson, and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. His songs can often be heard at social gatherings and concerts. In 2003, the University of North Texas College of Music awarded him an Honorary Doctorate in Music. Bhumibol is an accomplished sailor and sailboat designer.
Although Bhumibol is held in great respect by many Thais, he is also protected by lèse majesté laws which allow critics to be jailed for three to fifteen years. Acts deemed insulting to Bhumibol's image are also criminal offences in Thailand. Amnesty International considers anyone jailed for insulting Bhumibol to be a political prisoner. (after Wiki)
When we came to Bangkok for one day, there were the celebrations of the King's Birthday. Everywhere there were big portraits of the King and a lot of people celebrated the event. I like most these colourful women.

Hello Malgorzata,
A fine capture of these colourfully dressed ladies out to celebrate the King's birthday. The image is well lit and has very good colours and clarity.
PS It was impossible to photograph the Chhatapur temple in its entirety. But it is definitely worth a visit if you are in Delhi again.

Hello Malgorzata. Women and men in traditional dress. An interesting and colorful photo. For a popular king, it is appropriate to dress festively. Your photo reminds me of a forced stay in Thailand in 2002 for treatment at a hospital. After a partial recovery, I could walk around a bit in Bangkok. Somewhere, a large crowd of people standing at the roadside and waited. A policeman told me to take off the cap. Shortly afterwards the king came in a black car drove past. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Bonjour Malgorzata,
Une image très intéressante que de voir toutes ces femmes en habits multicolores qui regardent dans la même direction en attente de quelque chose.

Hi Malgo,
reading your note I learned that this man is full of quality and is loved by the people, I do not know very well the history and current politics of Thailand, but it seemed to me that lately there had been many complaints, always suspicious of men who are power, is still an excellent reportage a nice picture with beautiful colors,
best regards,
Valter

Good Morning Malgo,
What is so lovely is that, although the ladies are facing your direction, none of them appears to be aware of your camera. Something more interesting is in their minds. That a llows us to scrutinise them without embarassement - such an interesting thing to do!
I agree with you, their bright colours, their diversity of expressions and their anticipation are infectious to us.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Dear Malgorzata,
This is a spectacular group portrait of the women in colorful garb, seemingly color coded in their grouping — the three in pink, the next six in a gradually changing spectrum of blue to violet... The close-cropping of the image leaves cuts out all distracting elements. It goes right into my collection of favorites.
Warmest regards,
Bulent
