[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This ladies work for an agency. They are here preparing to be in position for a Buddhist conference. Their job is to stand by the stairs etc and 'wai' (greet with a palmed hand salute) the delegates as they arrive. The wear traditional Thai silk costumes and they are purely for decoration. Their job is to smile and be beautiful. . Beautiful ladies in traditional costume are used for decoration at many such functions in Thailand. (Men never are!) I guess some of them are 'wannabes' who hope to be discovered, otherwise it’s better than working as a waitress, I guess

Note. I have noted some critiques, finding recent pictures over colored and I have taken the observation to heart. So, these colours are just as they were recorded, Thai silks on a sunny day, absolutely no saturation. I have de-saturated the robes of two monks by the stairs the left. To avoid over coloration I would be interested to know if it still appears over colored. The original, with the monk, is in the workshop’

kevin o'sheehan ,

Nice gathering of beauties.
Prety busy with there own mood, few of are making up, chit chatting & few of are sleeping.
Sharp image.
Nice exhibition of colors.
Very well done.
TFS,
Shailendra

Worthwhile capture, Kevin, a continuaton from the "shy monk" one before... You are showing us behind-the-scenes insights that we would not get otherwise from Thailand. Nice POV, really backs yuor notes well.
Still some coloring issues especially in the faces which are a bit too "ruddy". Tricky stuff. They may well come out that way from your Nikon but have you thought about adjusting the Saturation downward inside the acemera's menu before shooting?
All the best,
Francis

Hi Kevin,
Men are not used for decoration in Thailand, but as you well know.... many Thai women are in fact men!! ;D
Nice colors here and good sharpness... some girls are sleeping and one is checking herself in the mirror making the picture quite funny
Well done Henk
Greetings from Bangkok!!!

Hi Kevin, An appealing photo. I like the girl in jeans and
t-shirt who looks a bit bored and put out at having to play the traditional role. Maybe you could have given more prominence to her in the composition. As for the colouring issues Furachan mentions, I don't see a problem in the original you posted in the workshop (compare the faces of the girls in the 2 photos) so not sure what the problem is. Maybe over sharpening and contrast rather than saturation?
