[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It’s a big day at Buddha Monton. The Phra Sangha Raja (The country’s top monk) is coming and these little novices have been pressed into service to form a sort of houour guard. I heard a senior monk explain to them patiently that they should stand up straight and in a line, but it’s a hot day, they are excited and His Holiness is a little late in coming. So they have started chatting and the line has got a bit disorderly. These are just 10 or 11 years olds, spending their summer holidays as novices, as is the tradition. They learn some Buddhist teaching, but mostly they are taken on trips to local places of interest. They will be back in their class rooms by the end of the summer. One of the nice things about being a novice is that your parents have to bow down to you and call you ‘sir’. They like that! For a few weeks they get to be an important person.

Hi Kevin,
I like these orange robes so much ... a really nice capture and I like these little nice novices.
Your note is interesting and the "sir" makes me smile. So should I call them "sir" if I talk with them?
Have a nice weekend,
Nino

Great picture and interesting note. The only thing I would do is use the selective color tool in photoshop to make the orange pop up a little more. The picture is excellent in any case. Congrats, Tali

Hi Kevin..a very colorful shot!!
and some insider comments in your note...the novices are the backbone of that pic and make it a fine picture to look at!

wonderful, Kevin, and a real daily life shot for that time of the year. Your pix sends me back a few weeks, so how fortunate you live year round in Thailand, and can document for us, the seasonal events of this buddhist country.

I really like all the details in that shot, the shoes, the different colors of their shoulder bags, the Moms (i presume) supervising their own sons, Holy father can be late, you are serving us with an entertaining vignette of temple novice life. hey, I counted them, missing 3 and they can have a football game!....Now that'd be so much better than waiting. I bet you some are thinking just that.

A colourful gatherin here.. The monks standing create an attractive array and catch the eye.
Good perspective and composition.
Well done!

This is good TE stuff, Kevin. I'v elearned a lot both from the nicely framed shot and your excellent note. You really describe the scene well, and with humour too...
Cheers,
Francis

Nice arrangement, especailly with the line of young monks form an angle. This sor tof grouping always a good subject.

Hi Kevin, I like this nice colorful photo of these little novices...the note too is instructive..TFS..
