| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a family of ethnically Laos people from the poverty-stricken Isarn region. They have spent the whole night in the back of a pick-up truck, bumping all the way down to Bangkok. They have come to the capital city for the first time in their lives, to witness the graduation ceremony of their grandson, son and big brother.
By the time they arrive they are exhausted and disorientated – so much traffic- so many people. They are wearing their best cloths, of course. Mum anxiously checks the bags. The kids look stressed and poor Granny has crashed out. They have brought plenty of food with them, so that, after a meal and a sleep, they will all perk up by the time the ceremony begins |

Thanks again, Kevin. Though poverty-stricken is rather severe nowadays (No Cambodia or Maynamar), it is true that many villagers and farmers have no choice but to go to the big city, or sending children to it, as jobs are spare and farm work seasonal.
I am a bit perplexed at why some of your images, with always good contextual notes get no attention. Maybe not catching visual interest as thumbnails, or peole have anchored expectations about Thailand images.
Well, I doubt there will ever be another place to which I forever indebted for showing another way of looking at life, and appreciating it fully however little it gives you in trying times. To me, that's the gift of Thailand to the world, if the world listens.
Thanks, it's all there in your pix and your note.
I admit I am biased, I am an Issan "patriot" ;-)
