[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a scene from an ordination ceremony at a beautiful, little 17th century temple opposite Bangkok Noi Market on the Thornburi side. Every new monk has an 'Upakhorn' a senior monk who acts as a spiritual teacher and guide for the first ten years of their life in the monkhood. In this scene the two have been ordained as novices. They are met by their upakhorns who conduct a solemn enquiry into their intensions, before they are led back into the 'bot' (ordination hall) to receive the major ordination. After the chanting of the ordination prayer the assembled monks call ‘sadu’ (a rough equivalent to Amen in the west) to signify their agreement and the novice is received into the Sangha (the community of monks).

Lovely clear colors and a fine atmosphere... TFS...Ina...

Nice shot kevin. The face's expression of the monk is very well captured. The colors are also wonderfull.

Here we have one more of your beautiful "orange" photos which I like so much.
There is such a devotional spirit and shows us other religion very well.
The light is so wonderfull allthough they don't have sunlight - the orange is shining.
Thanks and bye

Well found PoV for an intimate shot of this ceremony. Sound like an appealing part of town. I'll try and check it out in August.

Really good shot, Kevin, IMO, you could have cut a few pixels off the top, but no one can miss all the elements of this very important moment in their lives, which your note describes exhaustively. It is also judicious to have shot when the Upakhorn was talking, and your framing makes his lecture as important as their obedient concentration.

Let me spot some of yours, this one as it radiates a strong devotion making you wonder about what is happening here making me read your very good note to it.
On top the photo is very well composed with the people to show clearly the welcome ceremony and colors are really marvellous, the orange certainly the eyepuller.
Very well done Kevin
Henk
