This photograph was taken in Ayutthaya in central Thailand. It was the former capital of Thailand from 1350 to 1767 prior to it's destruction by the invading Burmese army in 1767. These ruins offer a glimpse of old Ayutthaya, which once was a prosperous capital with over 400 magnificent Buddhist monasteries.

The composition is excellent; the three pillars rising slowly in the background, the statue in the background mirroring your subject- very well spotted. The black and white tones are also very smooth and subtle. Everything is very still in this picture and it highlights the silence of these ruins, no longer the grand capital (but I'd assume they'd be swarming with tourists these days.)

Superb picture. The Buddha in the back is like a reflection of the Buddha in the front. Good DOF. Well done!
