One of several pictures taken at Wat Na Phra Men in Ayutthaya
The name of this temple means the temple in front of the royal pyre, sometimes called Wat Na Phra Meru is situated off Ayutthaya City Island, opposite the formal Grand Palace in the northern area in Tha Wasukri district.
The temple was constructed in the 1500s during the reign of King Ramathibodi. It also has been used as a Royal cremation area.
This temple is still considerably in its original condition being one of the few temples not to have been destroyed by the Burmese in the sacking of .Ayutthaya in 1760. In fact, the temple was used by the Burmese as a camp and gun emplacement during the attackon the city.
Wat Na Phra Men was repaired in 1835 to1838 during the reign of Rama III of Bangkok’s Chakry dynasty.

Good Morning Stephen,
It seems inconceivable that such a beautiful place should be used for armaments!
Its very beautiful, regular design, certainly asks for a symmetrical approach to its composition. You have captured the details with excellent clarity.
I am intrigued by the people all dressed alike. Were they workers at the temple?
Have a lovely Sunday,

una ottima foto con colori vivavi e bella composizione che ci porta al cospetto di un tempio della Thailandia centrale.
Ottima anche la nitidezza e buone le note a margine della foto.
Ciao e buona domenica

a very good presentation of this lovely antique temple with an intriguing history and luck to have survived the attacks. You are offering us the opportunity to thoroughly study its fascinating facade. I like very much the inclusion of another temple in the distance while the people animante the scenery. I also like the colour definition and how the stronger and more vivid colours stand out among the dark or subdued ones. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely Sunday,

Good morning Stephen!
What a sight! This frontal sight accentuates the beauty and the actually simple and at the same time impressive architecture of this temple wonderfully. In combination with your excellent note an exemplary contribution here.
Greetings from still cold Germany (-5°C this morning - and hoarfrost)! Have a sunny Sunday!

I am always fascinated with buildings like this, so ornate and beautifully shapely. Everything looks so pristine and the gilding just shines out so wonderfully. A shot full of colour, light and magic. Well done!
Wishing you a pleasant Sunday. - Brian.

Quel beau temple , bien mis en valeur par un cadrage très symétrique mais qui englobe aussi quelques temples sur la droite. J'aime l'animation qu'apporte les gens tout autour et les jolies couleurs.

Aren't these Temples impressive - there is so much imagination in this World - where would we be without it.
It is always nice to see old icons such as temples being restored.
Congratulations on your highly informative notes.

Good evening Stephen,
Vivid colors attract the sight when first opened the thumbernail.
Carved golden art-elements contrast well the white marble built temple.
Fine taken an inclusive view.

Beautiful shot of this stunning temple, the level of detail in the roof is superb, so nice to see such craftmanship. To think it is so old too, and in such fine condition. Really really like your composition here, it has an almost 3D effect.
All the best

An interesting history to go along with this nice straight-ahead shot fo the temple, Stephen. Nice bright colors - I can see why this angle appealed to you, with the yellow flags and green-shirted tour group (I assume?) along the lower half. The top of the building is bright and shining as well, with the luck of a small bird flying through. Thanks!

elegante e slanciata l'architettura di questo tempio.
Le rifiniture sono belle ed impreziosiscono il tempio.
Sei riuscito a mettere tutto questo in questa foto, una bella testimonianza di questa cultura orientale.

The temple is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details and colours of the architecture of the Wat Na Phra Meru. The good luminosity is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.

You must have been in your glory with all these beautiful temples just waiting to be photographed.
The architecture immedeately states `Thailand`
macjake (57694) 2013-04-14 11:08
