Photographer’s Note
Founded in 1350, Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after it succeeded Sukhothai in the mid 15th century. It was destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century. Today there are the remains of around 500 wats or temples.
Wat Phra Sisanpetch is located in the grounds of the Royal Palace and was used for royal ceremonies and for storing royal relics. The three chedis depicted here are believed to have held the ashes of three kings.
This is a stitch of 2 images. I could just to say fit it into a single shot, but I knew there would be some WA distortion, so I took 2 shots to leave space at each end to straighten it up with the transform tool.

Hi Kath,
this is a nice catch even though the light is quite harsh. The stitch is seamless and I like the rhythm of those three 'chedis'.
Best,

Hello Kath,
Des Ruines qui sont de très belles traces du passé de cette région. L'image est peut-être très légèrement floue mais les couleurs font très bien ressortir les tours.

Hi Kath,
I feel that join the images is a good option in this case. It is difficult to correct the WA distortion. You did an excellent job! I like the beautiful colors and details of this ancient architecture.
Have a nice weekend

Hi Kath
You were right going for the stitch, nice trio of a place I have visited and liked some years ago. Despite the hard light you have gor a blue sky here, not too hot at the end of march ?
Have a nice day jY

Hi Kath,
What an interesting place to visit! I would have done exactly what you did with stitching them, however, I would have probably shot four or five vertically to create the panorama in order to get a larger foreground and space at top - I inevitably have to crop a great deal due to the shots not lining up as well as I had hoped. Shooting vertically takes care of two issues - the wide angle distortion isn't as bad and the crop (most of the time) will not interfere with the subject.
However, this stitch worked out nicely, great color and the sky is nice, too. What application do you use to stitch? I have used several different ones and almost always have to work really hard to get it to look seamless.
Anyway, have a great day!

Hi Kath,
very well planned and excellently executed. The temples are really fascinating and you have composed it so that it become symmetrical.
Exciting to be here and presenting the historical places.
well presented in a real scene.

Hi Kath
Good choice to use a stitch rather than have leaning spires. Excellent POV with the tree in blossom occupying the left lower intersecting point.

Hello Kath,
Superb landscape for a scene of adventure film !!! Pretty stitch to emphasize these three temples. The hot colors of the image are pleasant and give a certain atmosphere to the places. I like much this sky which gives movement to your compostion and an appreciable relief. Thank you Kath for this return in Thailand…
With all my friendships and a very good WE,

Hi Kath
Interesting pattern of temples, very nice POV.
If you want less distortions of picture I suggest you to use alens close to 50 mm but you must do more than two pictures.

Hello Kath -
"Happy 4th of July!" from the Colonies.
This is a very nice image and thinking ahead and making a two image stitch produced a nice product. Did you really save time with a stitch over a WA or did you really capture more of the image? Which ever the endeavor was worth it. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Kath,
I think this is the first post of yours that is in a gallery with a post of mine. Well... Except for Paris, but that gallery is so huge that doesn't count. :-)
It's a great capture, that is also an effective presentation of that fascinating place. The symmetry looks quite appropriate for the architecture, but is nicely broken by the blossoming tree, which gives a bit of scale also. You were clever to use two images and I like that you kept some of the WA distortion, as it renders a more natural appearance. However, knowing your dislike for distortion, I wonder if the two images were not enough to give you enough area to allow you a more accurate correction.
The sharpness is quite good, but not exactly at the usual "Kath's level"; I guess that the 300 Kb were not enough to render clearly the intricate patterns created by centuries of wet weather on all those surfaces .

José

Hello Kath!
Those temples are quite impressive and exotical!
Your picture is very attractive, with a very well chosen pov and a very good composition!
Exposure and colors are excellent! I miss a bit more of sharpness, but that's a personnal taste and a minor "flaw" that really does not spoil the beauty of this image!
TFS - congratulations!

Hi Kath,
Tremendous stitching work .. striking place .. I love the way the far right tower is in shadow .. the sky is soft .. but it is very effective .. it seems so wonderfully distant ... I read your note to rirad about software .. I will have to check that out I have been looking for a better stitching solution. wonderful image. take care, John

Hi Kath,
A succinct, but informative note informs a surpassing image. Your trip to Thailand had to be one of the most transforming of all experiences (I've visited your website). In stitching the two images together, did you have a stitching software associated with Nikon, or were you using a generic brand? It is seamless work.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Kath,
You have a beautiful gallery!
I am a little bit ashame because it is the first time I see your photos, but it is a real pleasure for the eyes!
I immediately added you in my favourites.
It is difficult to decide where to start, so I selected this one too, because it is a very special place, which I see for the first time.
Thank you.

Marianne

Hello Kath
The place is too big & hence stitching is required, which is flawless. Nothing to talk about the light...the usual Asian harsh light. I think evening time is the best to take pictures here, when the brick colours would become more 'naaturally saturated'.Good symmetry of the 3 chedis...would have perhaps liked something or someone to provide scale...of course having seen the structures I do know about the size.
Best Regards
Angshu

Hi Kath,
This really is superb!! The ornate towers standing perfectly straight against the delicate streamers of clouds is a wonderful contrast. I had never thought of using two images to make straightening more effective; with these three towers, WA distortion would have been very unattractive. I've never seen these temples with flowers blooming. It's a favorite for me.
