Photographer’s Note
Don't you hate it when you buy a new lens and a typhoon hits the next day? I haven't had much of a chance to use my new lens, and this is about the best result so far.
You see vendors all over Taiwan selling these. It is a kind of dough based pancake, fried on a griddle, with a fried egg, garlic and hot sauce as options. Not the healthiest thing, as they are loaded with grease, but they are delicious. With the longer focal length than I have become used to, I had to tilt things to fit them in the frame. I don't mind the results...

I don't "mind" the results either, Darren! It's as if the man is the only thing straight, and the world around him has become tilted. But he goes about his work as if nothing had happened, intent on his pancakes, his pride and joy. The shallow DOF adds to the effect, but I like the fact we can still see all that gleaming steel, especially the tube that parallels his arm to well. (But why is the image rather small?) Regards, Ken.

Hi Darren,
I'm not crazy about the photograph, but I like the results of the lens. Its a strange tilt..perhaps because of the bar at the top and on the side. What I do like is the concentration on his face. I also like the detail in his arm - he seems to be handling the pancakes with attention. I'm not sure if it would have worked to have more of his ear in the frame - as I think the space behind his head might have ended up looking a bit odd as well.
Not brilliant, but also not bad..

Hi darren,
Sorry to hear about the typhoon hitting taiwan preventing you from playing with your new toy.
I love that tilt that brings something more to the shot. a very sharp POV!

Well I like very much the results Darren. An original frame with the arm in rithm with the metal bar above. Love the expression of the arm and the colorful bokeh behind man´s head.
Maybe too contrast gennerated by the focusin mask in Photoshop, but anyway a great job.
Congratulations

Nicely framed and titlted for effect, Darren. Love the look of concentration on the man and your complete control over all the elements (control being your element ;o))) teasing!)
Nice work, Daren,
Francis

the bokeh is scrumptious.. very sharp, pleasing colours too... i'm really not crazy about the tilt and the framing and the close crop though... dunno, just looks weird to me, sorry...

Interesting image - the slanted perspective works very well. Good note with it too. TFS - casper
