Photographer’s Note
One of the things I like about temples in Taiwan is that they are much more than simply places of worship. They also function as meeting place and social center. This guy was one of many just hanging around at Lungshan Temple last weekend. I am assuming he is Taoist, but that probably isn't that important, he was with his friends and seemingly couldn't have been happier.

as always, i´m stunned with your talent for portraits... i love the blurred background, and the perfect definition, contrast and lighting on his face... the texture of the stone wall where he stands, his purple shirt... everything is just perfect...
you have captured a unique expression and the note is great: well done!

Excellent shot, Darren. The face of the man tells a story. If I were to nit pick here, but this is being hard pressed because there is not much to pick on here, I would say that the crop on the bottom is a bit too tight. If you left a few pixels and didn't crop so tightly around the neck, I think you would have had an even better shot (if that's possible). Anyway, excellent work, as always.

This one is good Darren. I would crop it tighter on top, IMHO.
The strength of this photograph is its amazing clarity and very good DOF. The warm smile of the subject is definitely a plus. And the composition...I like the off-centeredness here. Good work.
