I am sorry I really don't know how to better present this shot given the limits on TE. These are four of a series of six photos I took on Tuesday of an intermediate white egret who has just caught a koi in the lotus pond at the Taipei Botanical Gardens. I have never seen a bird catch and eat a fish, let alone been able to take photos while it happened. Unfortunately, a lot was lost in the downsizing here, even dropping each photo down to 620x413 looses so much. I wish you could see these shots closer to life sized. I could have probably posted this in a 2x2 grid, but it really didn't show the sequence in the same way. I will upload a bigger pano version as well, but I would also invite you to have a look at this here, as it is a little larger again. If you are on dial up, I am sorry, it is a pretty large photo (just over a meg). I really wish I could figure out a better way to show this, but simply posting one photo at a time didn't quite seem right to me either. I hope this works ok for you.
My favorite shot here is the last one, where you can see the fish has made it half way down the egret's throat.
Taken with a 2x teleconverter, ISO 200 and shutter speeds between 1/250sec and 1/500. All images here are uncropped.

This is an outstanding presentation Darren! So interesting and alive, and the photos are of excellent quality.
I also agree that the last shot is the best - it's actually hilarious... as if it bit more that it could chew...

I second that anyone who is interested in this photo at all should look at the very large version (link in the notes). The thumbnail version here doesn't do the large version justice at all. You might make it 2x2 just for this, even though that ruins the flow a bit.

I couldn't really tell what was going on above, but thats not your fault, just TE regulations (which are very reasonable by the way, David) But seeing in the large version I loved it, it's a very pretty bird eating a very pretty meal. Good capture, and great idea to make a "comic strip" out of it.

Interesting series of shots, no doubt about it. I also clicked on the larger version and it is much better than the one you posed here. Nothing really to nit pick, but one thing that I would like to mention is the fact that the shots appear to be a little too drak for my taste (perhaps underexposed a tad). Anyway, this is just a minor issue, Darren. This is just excellent. Well done.
