This is the second shot from a free exhibition of Chinese opera, as well as other traditional Chinese performing arts I came across. The man here was, if I remember correctly, the lord of the house, and the one with whom both his wife and his servant were in love. I wish I could be more accuate in relaying the story, but my memory and understanding go only so far. I also wish you could see the actual slide, the scanning on this bunch was quite terrible, but the slides are quite pleasing.

It's a wonderful, sharp, maybe a bit harshly enlighted image Darren, one as I'm used to see from you, and one as I most like...
But I must say the brown/red shape is disturbing my eyes here. I wonder what was your reason to include it?

Hello Porteplume and hello Darren,
I think on the opposite that the brown/red shape "breaks" the background and gives a disturbing but enriching effect to the face of the singer (whose cheeks are almost the same color).

Nice shot! I find the ?wall a little distracting too, but only because it isn't aligned with the rest of the image. I've posted you a Workshop - I hope you like it :-D

When I saw this photo I immediately thought of "The Mikado". But it's obviously not Gilbert and Sullivan. ;-)
His expression is wonderful and he is framed perfectly in your photo. To me the colors are not harsh at all They are very appropriate considering his makeup, costume, and the lighting.
I tried cropping out the red thing in the background and have to admit I like the photo much better with it in there.

Very effective: it feels as though you have caught a decisive moment in the performance. Overall the colours are harmonious and the DOF is excellent.

Great DOF, colours and positioning. I dont mind the red shape becaue the colour can be seen in the emrodorie and enhaces that.
