Photographer’s Note
a view into (and a bit out of) shin kong life tower, taipei's second, and taiwan's third tallest building on a rather cloudy day. after januray 19 (and just 2 weeks after my taiwan trip :-()when the observatory opened at taipei 101 i imagine it will draw even fewer visitors.

I don't like the window reflecting too much clouds but I'm touch by the emotion between the mon and her son. This is really well seen, the croping is perfect and not taking it because of the reflection would have been a mistake.

Interesting but not quite there. I see why the reflection is there but I don't think it's having the right effect, possibly because the window itself looks kind of dirty. Also, I don't know if that's why, but the boy and his dad aren't very clear. Maybe they were out of focus a bit? Yes, I think the camera is focussed on the metal crossbar.
What about those face masks? All over Japan, too. I don't know about taiwan, but in japan they're for when you have a cold, so you don't spread it around.
Incidentally, I really want to go to Taiwan. What did you think of it?

oooh mark this is brilliant
i disagree with the above comments actually
firstly i like the fact that the scenery outside- the cliuds and the mountains.. it's a brilliant way to show the landscape.. more people should try this out.
secondly i like the kind of a dirty effect..
it brings in the atmosphere . this is difficult to explain so i'll leave it here
there is a lot of warmth inside the house and the atmosphere outside is so cold and gloomy.
you've shown this to us beautifully
i think this is one of the best i've seen from you

Mark, I am with Sohrab on this one, having he reflection in the window allows you to show us much more than just a straight shot, I also find that there is a nice balance between the reflected landscape and poeple, one doesn't overshadow the other. Nice warm colours complement the feeling between the relationship between the child and father.
