Photographer’s Note
I had forgotten about this shot, but came across it today more or less by accident. This was taken following the Dragon Boat Festival, held at Green Lake (Bitan), just next to Taipei. Previously, there had been a torrential downpour, but by this time, the rain had let up significantly.
Normal things.

Cool, nice relation of shapes between the umbrella and the bridge, colour are great as is the dof and his expression. Not sure, but think that the building in the background on the left is a bit of distraction, wonder what the image would look like without it.

Glad you came visiting because it finally got me opening this shot! Great colour and I really like the mirroring of the line of the umbrella with the bridge - I think the DOF works really well - a really nice composition.
best wishes Kev

This is very nice, Darren. I really like how the umbrella seems to mirror the bridge in the background. Of course the other umbrellas are a nice addition as well. The dark and gray skies really add a touch of drama to the shot and your subject seems to quite the jolly fellow as well. Excellent metering on the face as it really makes your subject jump out at the viewer. Anyway, nothing to nit pick here, Darren, well done.
PS: I smiled when I read your note and wonder: how the hell could you forget about a shot? I remember all my captures and never ever discover a new frame by "accident"...it just does not happen! Anyway, how many shots are you taking per day that you seem to forget about such wonderful images as this? Get organized, mate! ;-)

I forget shots too... largely because they're rubbish so I don't bother to scan them in the first place (or convert them from RAW) :)
This is nice, I do like the two umbrellas mirroring each other in colour and angle. The storm and the duffuse lighting is great: I love this sort of weather (both photographically and generally but I'm weird since I like being IN rain).

Just beautiful Darren, as much for the neat composition, human expression and judicious use of bokeh, as for what is for me the deal maker here - color! Beautiful pastels.
I loved your cowboy busker, and I love this Taiwan pic every bit as much. You're on a roll!

I like that the line of the umbrella follows the line of the bridge and the smaller pink umbrella.
Despitre the rain and the grey clouds, this is quite a positive picture - probably because of the pink and the friendly looking man...
