Photographer’s Note

Saturday was Dragon Boat Festival throughout Asia, a celebration of the life and death of the poet ChuYuan.

After a week of really beautiful weather, Saturday started out nice enough, so I headed over to the races. I hadn't been there long when the sky opened up and the rain came down like the world was coming to an end. Everyone rushed to get under the tents covering the vendors and carnival games. However, one guy decided it was the perfect time to give his dog a bath, so he held the small, defenseless dog in the stream of water coming off the corner of the tent. I don't think the dog enjoyed his shower as much as I enjoyed watching.

ISO 400, focal length 135mm (~200mm 35mm film eqivalent), handheld, normal post processing, uncropped.

Hahaha, great shot Darren;

No, he doesn't look like he's having too much fun does he?
This shot reminds me of when we used to give me old dog a bath- mainly because it looks to be a similar type of dog.

wow, what a pitiful look he's giving you! I like your exposure time- it allowed for us to see the splats of water bouncing off the dog. Great way to show just how much the rain comes down here.

Nice shot, Darren. The subject matter is rather cute, so you've already scored points there. Second, me being a dog person puts a slight bias into my interpretation of the shot, which results in you getting a higher score as well. Anyway, back to the real world...good framing, nice and tight to focus all our attention on the animal, the water is excellent and makes the image stand out even more. The only thing that is distracting is the damn yellow thingy on the left...if not for that this would have been just perfect.

Thats one of the funniest photos I have ever seen on TE. The dog's expression is just priceless. He is resigned to his non-too-fun fate. Superbly seen darren.
