Photographer’s Note

I was coming out of a coffee shop when i heard some firecrackers just around the corner. There was a Dangi ceremony. People from a neighborhood or a street invite "ghost fighters". They dance, burn fake money and incense, hit themselves with axes, knives and other sharp objects. More are on my www.pbase.com/ugoortolano site.

Hi Ugo,
I am really diappointed (but not surprised anymore) that this shot didn't get more attention. In my opinion, you have really captured what these men do to themselves and the almost insane state of mind they get themselves into. I love the blur and the fact that his eyes are really in focus. Excellent shot worth far more praise. Cheers, Paul.
