Glowing Lanterns
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Nearly every temple and shrine in Taiwan, particularly the Taoist ones, has a ceiling of paper lanterns that glow warmly red every night. They're painted with caligraphic blessings. Red is the color of good fortune and blessing, and is therefore the most popular color in the country. This temple was right outside one of the biggest department stores in Taichung, ChungYo. The keeper of the temple was a very friendly old man who was happy to let me walk around with my tripod and camera, shooting away among the incense and moon rocks. On my way out, he insisted i leave with two bags of white steamed moon buns. Yum yum midnight snack! |

Exciting colour and tight composition. Good DOF with the sharp centre lantern and the rest out of focus. Might also be nice with front to back sharpness, which would emphasize the patterns. You have an eye!
Hi Kristy,
Nice picture, I like the colors and your DOF. I guess you had a good time in the temple.
Saludos,
Daniel

Hi Kristy.
An eye catching image with these wonderful red lanterns. Good use of depth of field to blur the surrounding lanterns and focus solely on the centre one. Nice tight and full composition.

Wanda
