Photographer’s Note

Matsu is the Chinese God of sailors and fisherman. Every year in Centtral Taiwan, there is an 8 day Matsu pilgrimage to celebrate the God's birthday, where the icon is taken from his home in Jhenlan Temple, Dajia and paraded around a 300km circuit of central Taiwan. Yesterday was the first day, which sees groups of people from various temples come to the Jhenlan temple in Dajia to pay their respects, in an orgy of sound, color and chaos.

Here are 2 of the participants on the day, taking a rest.

Technical note - there are some clipped shadows in this, it was very tricky lighting.
