Photographer’s Note
One thing I would like to do is improve my landscape photography. As I don't like getting out of bed early - when the best light is - I'm starting to think this could take a long time.
This shot had a different natural spectacle (mist) to the lovely dawn shot of the same scene I missed by getting up 3 hours too late and eating a lazy breakfast in the colonial-era hotel I was staying at ;-)
This is World's End in the area of Sri Lanka known as Horton Plains. Central Sri Lanka is on a plateau and in this place the land suddenly drops several hundred metres towards the coastal plain below. About 20 metres to the left of my shooting position is a shear cliff which must be certain death if you happen to fall off it. The mist has just started to roll in, as it does every day at about 10am, and this gives the picture a slightly 'cold' appearance, although it was actually quite warm.
Tech:
Taken from standing on a log to raise my height a bit. Crop to 8x10 size from the original scan of the negative. Auto colour level, resize and sharpen.
