Photographer’s Note
Galle is a fortified town with high walls protecting it from attack by the sea. The fortifications were built by the Dutch in 1663. At regular points around the walls are defensive bastions.
On this particular bastion were a group of young lads who hurled themselves from the top into the sea 80 feet below. They did not require payment for this dangerous stunt but were pleased if they received tips from tourists afterwards. I was more than happy to reward their bravery with a few dollars.
You can follow this guy's progress towards the water here and here.

Spectacular shot. I like your framing in this action photograph. The position of the man is particularly funny.

Hi Jonathan,
I'm a landscape and street moment shooter and this one is a different decisive moment that you captured so well in a common scenery to me but without this spectacular air jumping and not a wave.
This present TE passing scenery thunbail picture called all my attention because is so well taken and composed. The soft blur and the focus shot in this acrobatic photographic view by you and the man jumping. Excelent perspective and work released by your great eye catch. All the best to you and congratulations for this wonderful picture at the decisive moment and reportage.
Best Regards and FTS.

Hi Jonathan, A good catch of the "graceful" fly. You have captured this picture in a perfect timing, nice PoV. Thanks for the extra footage in the WS to appreciate the height of the diving. Excellent sporty action shots. Well done.

Well Jonathan
This is a very dynamic shot. Very impressive and you've captured the moment finely here. I saw theses guys doing the same thing when I was there. It's madness; wouldn't get me doing it.
Thanks for sharing this.
Cheers

Hej Jonathan,
A decisive moment indeed, you captured this boy at the very right moment. It looks like he was trying to fly away from the rocks. Excellent photo!

Wow--you've captured a moment with this one. Great action shot, very dynamic position of the man. I'm not sure what I think about all the sky. On one hand it gives a good impression of the immensity of the space involved in this picture, but it also kind of distracts from the size of the drop. I'd probably crop it if it were me.
Nice shot!

Very striking shot! The wild 'pose' of the diver instantly grabs my attention, and the backdrop of the sea and sky make the shot even more dramatic. You got and nice tight shot of this, with the result that the form of the diver dominates the frame - Great work!

Hi Jonathan,
You certainly took this at the decisive moment. I like the clarity, the dynamism, and the POV. The photo has high impact with the plunging diver in mid-frame. Good balance is created by the rocks in the right foreground, which are enhanced by a good play of light and shadow. Superb capture, Jonathan.

Wow ! You have found elastic man ! The guy is really impressive and your pov makes him jumping into the rocks !
The small unsharp effect is useful here.
Well done.

Hi Jonathan,
Spectacular shots of these guys flying to the water! I love the way you captured him in the air and the sequence in the ws. An impressive result that I would also love to shoot. It reminds me a couple of shots posted some time ago of the member Bertrand (devimeuxbe). Congratulations!
TFS,
Friendly regards,

Hi Jonathan - fabulous shot, the water looks dangerously shallow, interesting WS photos too, but this is the best of them, he's not just diving but seems to making acrobatic moves a s he goes down.

Bonjour Jonathan
Un très bon moment décisif pour figer ce mouvement; la vitesse était parfaitement calculée.

Jonathan, c'est le rêve d'Icare figé dans l'instantané. J'aime la composition qui place le sauteur en léger décalé entre ciel et mer. Excellent !
