Tissa Sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

Tissamaharama is unsurprisingly shortened to "Tissa" by the locals. This is the gateway to the Yala National Park and the place to pick up jeep tours.

We stayed overnight before visiting the park and took an evening stroll. We were lucky enough to enjoy this beautiful sunset behind the palms with rice fields in the foreground.

Hi Jonathan, Good capture of the last glimpse of the sun for the day, Nice silhouette view through the palm tree. Nice contrast you managed to have for this picture with green in the front and the red in the background. A very well taken picture.

Hi Jonathan,
I planned a cycling trip in Sri Lanka for januari 2005. For obvious reasons we had to cancel that one.
The more I see your pictures the more I'm convinced of the necessity to go there very soon.
This is another fine picture with the palmsilhouettes against the orange sky.

I really like this shot! Very simple, but so well framed. The series of palms seems to build on each other and reinforce each other. I like the colour too - suble and not overdone. The blackness of the silhoettes really brings out the colour very well. Excellent shot!

Great silhouette with the trees nicely place to the right of the composition. The sky's a great colour and the foreground adds great contrast to the scene. Didn't go to Tissa, but it seems very beautiful. Good shot

An interesting and well composed shot of this scenic area. I like the slice of grass in the foreground to enhance, followed by the silhouetted trees. The palms reach to the sky in the setting sun like living beings. Just the right exposure level to help create a warm ambience. Well captured, Jonathan.

Lovely silhouettes of the coconut palms, Jonathan. It is very striking composition with excellent exposure and sharpness. This would make a great postcard with "Wish you were here" written across the orange sky ;)

Hi Jonathan,
A simple, but so beautiful composition of those sillouettes of the palmtrees against that marvellous sky. I like the pleasant softness of the colours in the sky and the green bar framing the bottom of the composition. A very peaceful image.
