Hello my dear friends. I am writing to you from a hospital, I have a relax after surgey (Deviated nasal septum). I miss my home computer but I have a memory card with some old photos from my last trip. I hope you'd like it.
Galle is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km from Colombo. Galle is the administrative capital of Southern Province, Sri Lanka and is the district capital of Galle District. Galle is the fourth largest city in Sri Lanka after the capital Colombo, Kandy and Jaffna.
Galle was known as Gimhathiththa (although Ibn Batuta in the 14th century refers to it as Qali) before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, when it was the main port on the island. Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, during the Dutch colonial period. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by the Portuguese in South and Southeast Asia, showing the interaction between Portuguese architectural styles and native traditions. The city was extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. The Galle fort is a world heritage site and is the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers.

an attractive picture that holds the viewer's interest with the strong effect of the luminous perspective and the repeating patterns this carries all along. There's impressive sharpness, the distant point where the perspective leads is interesting and the mysterious silhouettes make us wonder how this place works as a daily life setting. You managed the lighting very aptly and achieved great definition in the contrasting sky too. Congratulations and thank you!
I hope you are feeling better now and that you'll soon go home and relax properly:)
All the best, take care,

I know almost noothing about colonial history of Sri Lanka, nor it's architecture. So I find this one very interesting. And it looks very good too on evening light. Exact exposure, I think you avoided overexposure of those lit arches.
Get well soon!

Poor Serghei, I hope it will get better! Beautiful architecture illuminated at blue hour. Well dones!

ottima prospettiva con tutti questi archi, molto bella anche l'esposizione, un'ora blu ben realizzata, compresa quella persona che cammina sulla strada.

Hi there Serghei,
There's just something about the "blue hour" that does wonders for an image. This would have been fine even under a darkened sky, but the coloring from this particular moment has rendered a stronger atmosphere, and is a delightful accompaniment to the bright whites of the artificial lights. Love this long perspective with the repeating arches...something that will always grab my attention! Another unconventional photo from this locale, original and just as interesting as the traditional. Hope you feeling better quickly, happy to see you still active here while in recovery. In fact, I have one for you today, hope it will also bring a smile while your relaxing. :) Have a great day ahead.
My friendliest wishes,

Hello Serghei - I loved Galle. As you say it has such a mixture of cultural influences. I was surprised at the strong colonial Dutch look to the town. It reminded me a little of S Africa with similar buildings. The building in this shot is a good example; shady verandahs, beautiful wooden shuttered doors and windows with openings at the top to allow the breeze in. A lovely reminder of a super place. I hope all goes well with your recovery. Rosemary

Lovely colonial style looking building all illuminated up in blue hour. The white contrast lovely against the blue and stand out well. The figure walking towards us makes it for me.
Great management, super presentation and note.
Hope you get better soon.

Sorry to hear you are in hospital, I wish you well and a speedy recovery. Glad to see you can still share with us though, this is a beauty of a shot. The building is really nice with its well lit repeating arches, but the angle you chose is the best thing as it creates such wonderful depth. I like the one person in silhouette inside the scene too, giving a great sense of scale to this big building, and a beautiful blue hour sky.
Thanks as always

really great subject for blue hour!
Mostly we see combination of blue with artificial, yellow lights. Here we get actually dominating white shades of the facade, which I have to admit contrasts beautifully with blue sky.
Beautiful and strong,graphical composition!
Have a nice day

You have found a very strong subject with excellent positioning of the house in great light. You´ve placed the house to the side of the frame which really does strengthen things. I love the fact that the house is in such perfect artificial light, contrasting very well against the dark road and dark blue sky. Brilliant!
Very well done.
Wish you a very nice rest of the week.

I hope you're o.k. after surgery. I'm sure it's no fun, and I wish you a very speedy recovery. :-) I like the way you presented this row of arches during the blue hour. The diagonal and depth are very nice, and it's great to have just one person walking by. Take care!!

Those are two storeys of perfection: An elegant design seen with perfect verticals on both sides of this attractive perspective and masterfully exposed to avoid any overexposure.
