Kelani River, a photo from Western, South

Photographer's Note

It was hot and humid and that added to the beauty of this wonderful jungle location. Our river lodge overlooked this dreamy scene, how could I resist taking the shot.
The 1957 film "Bridge on the River Kwai" was filmed on the Kelani River near Kitulgala, although nothing remains now except the concrete foundations for the bridge (and, supposedly, the submerged train cars that plunged into the river in the climactic scene). Kitulgala is also a base for white-water rafting, which starts a few kilometres upstream.
If you ever get to Sri Lanka, come and stay in the rustic Sissera River Lodge, the food is awesome.

Sabaidee, Chris, my neighbour today,
Well, I used "The Bridge on the River Kwai" as idea for my this post today. Hmm, just an amazing coincidence!
Excellent presentation of the Sri Lanka nature.

Hello Chris,
I have great memories of this captivating film, I saw several times. The framing of the photo describes the typical appearance of the dense bush. The river also reminds me of other famous movies about the war in Southeast Asia. The light, colors and sharpness are excellent. Bravo.
