One of the joys of travelling in Sri Lanka is riding the trains.
This picture was taken on that slow hill country train from Ella to Nuwara Eliya, choogling through the tea planations.
Ella is a small village up in the hill country. It's in a very beautiful area with great walks in the surrounding countryside. There are plenty of guesthouses and it's also one of the best places in the country for food.
Nuwara Eliya is the highest town in Sri Lanka, it was built by the British who enjoyed the cool (cold) climate, the mist, the rain and the European-style vegetables that grew up there.
so many train song titles to pick from...train kept a rollin'?
"This Train", also known as "(This Train Is) Bound for Glory", is a traditional American gospel song first recorded in 1922. Although its origins are unknown, the song was relatively popular during the 1920s as a religious tune, and it became a gospel hit in the late 1930s for singer-guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
very bravely shot, one hand holding on to the moving train,
with wife and child warning me to please, please watch out

Hello Benny ,

Original poinf of view and well used inside the frame of this red train on the tight slopes of the misty forest.
Nice to have the 2 peoples in foreground, looking through the window.

Nice shot of the train in the curve with these 2 people watching out of the window
I think that the milky gray sky participates well to the mood of the place

Excellent shot. The addition of that boy's head is very great and its a type of shot I liked the most. Such inclusion will bring the life into the photo, it reflects the atmosphere there the really fills the picture with feelings. It seems he is bored by the long journey with train or may be dreaming about the destination. You may would like to rotate the picture little bit to the right but its always an optional post-processing. Great shot my friend
have a great time

When I was there, the railway was closed for tourists, because of terrorists and bomb alarm.....
A pitty for the overexposed sky,but we are in the tropics.
Excellent composition with this boy at the window next to you.

It is a nice shot taken from the train's window on the curve. The photo has great contrast between red train and green vegetation. Good colors, light and sharpness.
Thanks for sharing and all the best,

Perfectly composed shot.
I like the vivid colors.
At first, I was surprised by the unnatural tilt of both the train and the trees but it works.

A fine take as the train take a curve in a forest area, with contrast red on green.
The people watch from window add lovely ambiance.

I would certainly say that this was a very BRAVE shot. But thank you for that - as it allows us the have a glimpse of the scenic train ride. I would like to find the time to do one such ride one of these days. Saw the Shwenyaung-Thazi train winding its way through the hills in the Shan state in Burma - that should be an interesting one...
