Galle Face Green is a promenade which stretches for half kilometre along the coast in Colombo. The promenade was initially laid out in 1859 by the British Governor of Ceylon and was also used for horse racing and as a golf course.
Today it is a popular destination for children, vendors, teenagers, lovers, kite flyers, merrymakers and all those who want to indulge in their favorite pastimes next to the sea under the open sky.
Especially on Saturday and Sunday evenings, it is a great place to go to meet people and sample some excellent local food. Then Galle Face Green is crowded with people.
This picture shows a part of the pier with the colonial Galle Face Hotel visible in the distance.

Good use of the diagonal here and nice light on the beach. Looks busy, I would have thought July to be the monsoon season but doesnt look it here.

Hello Benny - Wow this is a wonderful reminder of time spent in Sri Lanka and I can see our hotel! When we were in Colombo there was tight security and anyone pointing a camera got into hot water so I have a few very poor shots of this city. Lovely evening light here and I like your composition very much. We see the people on the beach enjoying the surf but a closer look at the people on the pier which leads the eye nicely into the shot. TFS this one. I have so enjoyed looking at it. Have a lovely weekend Rosemary

A fine composition with a double focus, people on both sides. Although they are a bit distant we can imagine the activities going on among the people on the beach. The evening light has provided you with beautiful colours.

I like this dual view of people near the water. We get a glimpse of the promenade, and a wonderful view of the shoreline and all of the activity there. The warm sunlight and lovely colors make the scene even more attractive.

To see the photos after visit of this country is more interesting idea, I was here in 2014, and I have got fresh memories. This is very familiar evening scene, good point of view, perfect DoF.

There is something calming about the seas,m even with these crowds. Sri Lanka is on my bucket list...one day soon I hope ( I just returned from a short trip to Penang, a reward after a year of illness and recovery).
I really like the the heightened angle of this shot.
