schoolchildren on the train in Colombo's Fort Station
Colombo is the largest city and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. It is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and a population of about 650,000. Some 40% of them are Sinhalese, Tamils and Moors make up about 20% each.
Fort, between Colombo Harbour to the north and Beira Lake to the south, is the commercial, financial and political heart of Colombo.
The Portuguese built and extended the original colonial fortress here during more than a century of conquest and resistance. Later it was taken over by the Dutch, and finally demolished by the British after they completed their conquest of the country in the mid-19th century.
Today, the area is the city's financial and commercial heart and houses Colombo's main international hotels, as well as Sri Lanka's seat of government.
Since the international airport is quite far from the capital, many tourists in Sri Lanka tend to skip visiting Colombo.
We found it very rewarding, though. Neighbourhoods like Pettah and Fort are great to wander around in, there are a handful of OK museums and what better way to wrap up the day than to go sunsetting on Galle Face Green?

I see the
Last year, Morocco, after you have progressed to Sri Lanka (Ceylon maiden name) as well :-)
It was worth to you to travel there, there are also good photos you have prepared. This is a nice picture of life. Can see a little into the lives of people living there :-)
Have a nice day.

Nice picture of daily life with good choice of framing divided in 2 parts. I ilke the boys on the left a bit exiting, smiling and the girl on the window, quiet, waiting for the start.

Beautifully done indeed!! A sort of casual vibe from the school boys and an interchange with the girl. But you are the third party in the mix and there is some eye contact also. A beautiful light treatment and rich yet subtle colorations. A first class photo! Fine work, warm regards,

A real sense of charm, and it is good to see these kids going to school, something that I found rare in Cambodia. The tones and colours feel so warm, natural.

A great moment caught with all these children of school travelling on the train which indicates their journey for education. I like the boys cheering up at gate and a girl looking at them from the window, timely caught. Great shot. Have a wonderful Sunday,

I like this series of shots taken on/from/in the train - it really illustrates the sense of traveling, moving, going from A to B traversing space... something that a flight somehow cannot give you.
great colours again - burned, contrasty, "hot" colours I would almost say :)
I like the way all the kids have a different expression and are looking into different directions.
have a good weekend ;)

Excellent feeling of a starting journey on this. I like the contrast between worn out train wagon and the boys in tidy school uniforms. Interesting how one waves at you while another just has a cool look.

Goed gedaan, bedankt.

B: Great framing - and balance in your composition - very effective rule of thirds - but it's the nice color and engaging faces that make your image pop. Best, c
