Photographer's Note

Galle Face Green is a promenade which stretches for half kilometre along the coast in Colombo. The promenade was initially laid out in 1859 by the British Governor of Ceylon and was also used for horse racing and as a golf course.

Today it is a popular destination for children, vendors, teenagers, lovers, kite flyers, merrymakers and all those who want to indulge in their favorite pastimes next to the sea under the open sky.

Especially on Saturday and Sunday evenings, it is a great place to go to meet people and sample some excellent local food.

This picture looks down from the promenade, me sitting on the edge, looking at the beach below, the old pier, the Sunday evening crowd passing by, a distant ship at the horizon...

You know just where I keep my better side"

(Richard Thompson)

yes, that's another melancholy song title reference
