The city of Colombo is the gateway to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. It is also the economic hub of the country and its largest city. It enjoys a fairly interesting location, situated on the shores of the Indian Ocean. The heart of the city is along the Galle Face, where most of its best hotels are located. The Beira Lake, seen here to the left of the picture is a fairly scenic is somewhat pungent body of water whose biggest attraction is the little Buddha Temple. This photo was taken on a recent trip in a military helicopter. It was a fun trip, in an old Bell without any doors whatsoever and while it made for some spectacular views, it also was a hair raising experience.
