I've marked this photo by Humorous category, because I remember my emotions when I saw this amazing scene in Weligama.
"Oh! It would be good report about another way of fishing in Sri Lanka!" - it was my first idea. But one man came to me and said me that a price of the photography is 1000 rupies ($ US 7.5).
I don't know about the fish, but it is not so bad business too. But as always I'd like to present this photo for you without money. So we are friends, right?

Lovely light and excellent overall composition of these famous stilt fisherman of Sri Lanka. The wave action in the background, the hint of green algae for contrast, and the classic posture make this image very pleasing to the eye. And for you my special friend, 500rps only being first customer of the day! ;)
Kind (& prosperous) regards,

Wow, that a new one to me! Learning about the world, ths is the very meaning of that. I wonder he successful this is? I guess very much, otherwise they wouldn't be in these strange positions. A pertly composed and presented image to share this too, with an ideal amount of sky and the focus very much on the water. I like how none of the poles break the horizon, as if the water has become their world.

I'll gladly help fund this photo, a check is in the mail. :) What a site, this is not something I've ever seen before...is it fishing, or some sort of reality show contest?? haha What a great look at something so unusual...well, for me anyway...and a wonderful idea about local activity, and I would also say "creative design." This is precisely the type of photo that shows a better understanding of a locale and its inhabitants, much more so than a famous landmark or tourist attraction. I wonder how long they stay out there, would seem to be a bit uncomfortable after a short period of time. Super and original shot, and a fun way to learn about the world. Have a great day ahead amigo.

Très belle image de ces pêcheurs assis sur leur pilotis. C'est une façon plutôt inusitée de pêcher. J'aime bien cette vague qui déferle sous l'horizon. Salutations.

Hi Serghei, Expensive photo, I must say. Thank you that we can see it free :)/ Amazing way of fishing , almost as strange as one leg rower on Inle Lake, but there they had not yet idea to get money. I wonder if they really catch something in water. Lovely composition.

so unusual and extremely interesting. Thanks for bringing different habits and culture to TE - it is very educative! I didn't know that was the traditional way of fishing and what a shame it turned into different kind of business. That reminds me very much of cormoran fishing in China - it is only for photo purposes nowadays.
Thanks for sharing!

I often wonder if the people who ask such absurd prices are sometimes so fortunate that someone pays the amount ... I've also experienced such situations.
And long time ago I've also visited Sri Lanka but I've never seen the fishermen of Weligama.
I myself am much too restless to love fishing and seeing these guys in this position, I can only conclude it must be a very tough profession.
Excellent daily life-picture learning us more about the hard way to survive as a fisherman.
Best regards, Paul

fascinating the view as the presentation if this fishing way from the natives. So you won the $ US 7.5 and the photo is uploaded on out monitors.I like the panoramic view as the lot of natives that are fishing with this way.I wonder if this pose is relaxing according to our way of fishing.Well done my friend.
Have a good week,danos
