Photographer's Note
This is a Baby Olive Ridley Turtle at a hatchery near Galle in Sri Lanka. The hatchery pays fishermen to collect turtle eggs and keeps these until they are hatched and the little babies are ready to make their first foray into the ocean. This young one is only two days old and it was being taken to be released into the ocean. The babies are generally released near sundown when they apparently have the best chance of survival. I hope this little guy (or girl) will survive and make offspring of his/her own...good luck!

It's only when you see the size of the baby turtle in relation to the human hand that you appreciate just how tiny they are. Their chances of survival must be tiny.
I like the simplicity of the composition too. The hand and then the blue background frame the turtle very nicely.

Hello Hemant,
Very beautiful capture of this little turtle struggling to live and grow, a picture very tender and excellently performed.
Best regards,
