A misty morning in Hakgala Gardens did not spoil the enjoyment of the visit. Situated beneath the towering Hakgala Rock some 10km south of Nuwara Eliya (Little England) with majestic views across hills receding in tiers into the distance, the damp morning brought a special atmosphere to the location.
The garden was established in 1861 for experimental cultivation of Cinchona (Quinine), a commercial crop thriving at the time. Later, it was turned into an experimental tea cultivation centre and in 1884 it was transformed into a garden. Since then many sub- tropical and some temperate plants have been planted in the gardens.

what a wonderful POV and composition. So atmospheric and perfectly captured. Delightful image and so imaginatively presented. Excellent!
Have a great week - Brian

Hi Rosemary. A misty morning, yes. But the light and the colors are wonderful. Trees, plants, flowers, etc. to give a great mix. But what the photo without the two men? Overall very nice. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Hello Rosemary ,
I thought that it was a picture from Madeira ! The same misty atmosphere and the same kind of flowers .
Well composed in this vertical format . For sure , the couple of people is a real bonus ;

It's a nice picture ... With this composition and contrasts, the fog makes the moment a special moment .. really nice, excellent!

a fine vertical composition and pov with the flowers in the foreground. This is a situation when it is common to underexposure the fg but i think this looks great.Did you use flash here? Cool misty atmosphere, it was also clever to include humans in this sht, well done !
Have a nice evening.

A beautiful, atmospheric shot!
The beautiful wet leaves and bright flowers in the foreground are well portrayed against the soft misty background. The two distant figures add depth to the picture and are an added bonus.
Beautifully sharp and clear throughout with perfect exposure (not easy in these conditions), colours and sharpness.

very beautiful misty and rainy shot. Great colours in the foreground contrast nicely with the hazy background.

It is like an impressionist painting. The mist in the air, wet agapanthus inthe foreground and the silhouettes in the horizon. Lovely shot. TFS

Very creative nad excellent shot with a good managment of a difficul litgh. The two silhouets in the BG giev a particulary athmopsehr to the scene. POV well selcetd too with the vegetation in the Fg which give depht to the image.

wow it really feels wet and humid after watching this photo. I like the wet plants in the foreground and the misty center, plus somebody has the umbrella to leave no doubt about the rain.
Very well presented rainy atmosphere,

the effect of the morning mist and of the walkers on the landscape of this path is fantastic, creating an a bit mysterious touch, and at the same time, a very cold but attractive atmosphere.
The green plant with both flowers in foreground is a detail that adds a high aesthetic level and a bit of color to your composition.
It is a beautiful work.

I like the mist, it adds to the mood of the photo. Great pov and it has a nice dof with good details even with condition. Well done, tfs.

I like the misty mood provided by the fog, especially with lonely silhouette lost in the frame and giving a kind of anchor in the reading of the shot.
Moreover, you have well used here the flowers in foreground to provide clear details but also depth to this view.

Hello again - what a clever presentation. It almost appears as if partially desaturated, such is the effect of the blue against a seemingly monotone backdrop of mist and trees. Thanks too for the interesting note. Somehow tonic water just appears on the shelves, thinking of growing quinine as a crop, now or then, escapes me !

A fantastic composition, as far as the moment taken, the POV with two big flowers in velvet-blue and yellow-white. Depth achieved marvelousely inspite of the prevailing mist, and ilhouette of two figures is outstanding.
Fine taken photo, from a location that truely "brought a special atmosphere", as written.
*** When I was in HK, I did not think about TE, yet, and had a small old camera, what a miss.
