Photographer’s Note
I was originally after some atmospheric black and white shots from this part of town but came away with this rather charming color shot.
The building on the right is one of the few remaining buildins of the old section of the neighborhood (run down by anyone's standards) and the ones in the backround are the newer ones built to replace.
I toyed with a black and white conversion, but would have lost the colour of the older building and the contrast between old and new.

En couleur c'est très, très bien.
L'image parle toute seule, on se croirait presque à Rio. Une bonne photo de reportage.

Hi Will
Great wide angle. A very menacing sky. The new verse the old. I like the woman and child ducking under the plank providing some action. Good work.

Well, it is nearly b/w, and the touches of colour look great, so good choice that you made. I like the viewpoint which makes the city skyscrapers loom up to look immense and threatening, dwarfing the people. The light in this one is extraordinary, and the line of people contributes to the perspective effect. Well done.

Andrew

This is an excellent image Will, perfect exposure throughout the image and the gloomy clouds add a unique atmosphere. Quite strong symbolism with the people walking towards the skyscrapers.

I like the strong contrast in subjects between the fore (people, disbanded buildings) to the background (skyscrapers - which, now that i look...seem to be abandoned as well). The skyscrapers in the background share a rare uniformity among buildings in that they lack the finishing veneers of glass and color. Instead, they feel as though they are one concrete entity. good work, sharp. The sky adds a lot as well. TFS

The whole pic really sums up South Korea in one frame doesn't it(!): The old and the new; the demolition of the past for the future; modernity and tradition - it's all there and I think a great picture for Trek Earth. Well done Will!

Hi Will,
I like the contrast of the built up and the knocked down. Its almost like its half black and white anyway - with that grey corner half of the photo. Very interesting.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Will,
Ideal perspective to show the rise of the Asia construction industry. The upward angle emphasises this point. TFS. Murray.

Hello Will,
Very nice shot of this building city.
Composition and colors are very good and the grey sky contrast very well with the light on the building.

Damien.

Hi Will!
This is a very nice shot, which gives a very interesting insight into modern life in South Korea. The people walking towards the new made skyscrapers generate a fantastic symbolism. Great idea!
I wonder though, why they build in this way. Is building land scarce (like in Japan)? Usually we find this type of compressed housing in developing countries with high population density and accumulated needs (like China for example). I though that South Korea has exceeded that development phase long time ago.

Hi Will,
Very impressive POV with that view on the modern skyscrapers contrasting with the scenery on the foreground. The atmosphere created by the threatening sky is great as well. Interesting note.
Well done.

Ah Will: I'm on the road and I hate the internet. But I hit your title page. What a proletarian nightmare/dream you've snagged here. Taking the wide-angle and doing the best you can with what you've got. best, c

Bien vu, le contraste entre les bâtiments neufs, et la zone ancienne en démolition ?

I like this shot Will, so interesting to see a contrast comparison between old and new building. I like how you have added many walking people, it make a nice symetry from these vertical skycrappers.
Very nice....thanks

Hi Will, coming to this one really late but glad I caught it (was browsing through the Korea folder after I learned today I will be visiting the country again next month). Like this transition all-in-one you've achieved here, making that long walk to the modern world from these run down dwellings really stand out. I think the uphill path the people are taking also adds to this effect. Though the ominous grey clouds makes me wonder if the modern side is really all that much better...
