Photographer’s Note
the university at which i teach has a very big statue at the top of the stairs leading through the campus. there are 100 stairs in total and the statue is at the top, looking ominous, but urging me on at the same time.
i have no idea whether the statue is famous or important ... one day i'll think to ask! :)

Hi David,
Original shot of that statue, isolating it on a corner and the uniform blue sky background make an intersting and pleasant composition. Nice view angle as well.
Well done!
Quentin.

Simple but very beautiful composition. The light management is very good and the sky came up with an excellent blue. Well done.

i think the use of the light here makes this shot work. not all the statue needs to be shown when the front half has fine features thanks to the direction of the light. as usual, strong blues create a good contrast to the subject. the sky.. is there anything it can't do?

Hi David,
I like the silhouetted look of the status against the deep blue sky
you made very good use of the hard light.
Thanks for sharing
