Photographer’s Note
Everytime I look into your lovely eyes
I see a love that money just can't buy.
One look from you I drift away
I pray that you are here to stay.
Anything you want you got it
Anything you need you got it
When i was waiting for the shutter to finish that was the song that was playing in the background. This was taken in a small city called Sokcho in Gangwondo. It's a great city that has an absolutely amazing park next to the sea. It's big, has lots of plaing fields, basketball courts, trails, and bike paths. You can even rent small battery powered motorbikes if you like, and they play western love songs ALL through the night!
But late at night it's devoid of life. I was out walking the dog and came across rhis scene that I wanted to capture. I liked the idea of an empty basketball court, the Expo Tower in the background, the other buildings, and the various lights dotted around.
I obviously would have prefered to have had the tower on its own and not behind the ring, but evertime i moved the camera there was a bright white light just to the left of the buildings that caused too much distraction. Only having a small tripod didn't help either. I figured that the light would be rather good on a timed exposure, and wasn't able to return to the scene in the morning or evening when people would be on the court.
I guess this photo continues my surrent theme of isolation, eh Francis?

Hi Will.
As a basketball played & coach, this picture is a crime.... :P
Seriously, from my POV it needs people playing to add more dynamism.
Anyway, I like it.

I like thew colors in this composition and the sense of loneliness and desolation. The lights with the streak are very nice. The color of the sky makes a nice contrast to the warm color of the street light. The elements you captured in this image are well balanced and there is truly no item out of place as far as I can see. Nice picture Will.

Hi Will
A bit surreal to hear Roy Orbison / Travelling Wilburies in Sokcho! I visited Sokcho last fortnight, & the only fast food place around near the main bus station was Pelicana Chicken. I like the red tinged sky here. Good work & tfs!
