Photographer’s Note
chain, chain, chain
chain of fools ...
feeling a little lazy tonight. i was going to post a photo of a statue from my university, it's got rich blue skies but it's a little symetrical and 'centred' for my liking. i might post it tomorrow.
i've been listening to some nice blues music and this song just popped into my head at the same time i was editing this photo. i figured that was fate and hit the 'upload' button.
rather than focusing on the front chain, i decided to focus on the third link. it just felt more natural that way ... although i suspect that some people here will tell me i was wrong to do so. i'm happy to take the criticism though.
converted to b&w and added obligatory frame.
i wanted to get this shot more contrasty but i'm still working out how to get good high contrast in photoshop.
this chain was situated on the board walk in incheon (part of greater seoul). it was connected to a big ship anchor on display. the chain was on the board walk for people to touch and look at. it's difficult to appreciate how big and heavy a ship anchor chain can be.

Bonjour,
Le noir et blanc convient très bien à ce sujet. Le réglage de la netteté convient parfaitement.

Hi David, good shot. minimalistic with a beautiful black and white and a brilliant POV so close to the chain and the ground.
thanks, ciao

The bokeh says it all. It shows that you are in control of all the elements on this image, nothing is an accident here. Superb, job!

Hi David
I remember it well. I like the flattened perspective & shallow dof. Good tonal range & pov. Tfs!

the detail and simplicity of this composition make this such a great shot. b&w was a great choice.. the pov makes this shot for me, well done!

Long time no speak. I have been away for a while as i have been bisy with work. I love this shot a superb still life and your DoF is spot on. My only gripe like you mentioned was it lacked a little contrast. Still a super shot.
