Photographer’s Note
My first image of many from the lotus lantern festival in Seoul held to commemorate the birth of buddha. Taken at Jogyesa temple in Seoul, where hundreds of people during the week come to pray and remember the birth of buddha. Hundreds of lanterns are hung at the temple each with names and prayers attached.

Hi Peter,
This is a very interesting composition. I like the sequence of the people praying. Very colorful also. Regards,

great shot peter ... i suppose the trade off with prime lens is that you need faster shutterspeeds to compensate for the light at such extreme apertures. i can really see the dof working hard here with the foreground and background out of focus, but that nice narrow portion in the middle.
the buddhist festival yielded some great photography. it was a shame we didn't see you out. rafal, stephen and i had a good time.
great photograph. i hope there are more to come! :)

nice colours and nice pov. i must say that the wide apperture makes the top too bright and too distracting, but i believe it's a personall taste.

Hey Peter,
Theres a lot happening in this shot, it took me a few seconds longer than normal to take it all in. Some nice colours and people in different poses, however Im not too sure if the blur in the foreground does much for the image.
And wow@1/8000 seconds! I never knew the D70 shutter went so fast!

You got a nice shot here Peter. The middle is awash with details especially the shoes and prayer books and of course the old people. I'm not a big fan of the background bokeh thats been created it looks a little, dare i say it, odd. Did the try the same scene with different appertures? Maybe f5.6 would have been better. The temple in the background looks a lttle lopsided as well. That aside it's a great photo. I'm gonna head down a temple tomorrow and reel of a few hundred!

Hello Peter
a good and colored compo, but the blurred foreground disappoint me a little ... why did you put the first player out of focus ?
Good frame indeed

Powerful this is ... there is so much movement here in this photo, their prayers almost come through your picture. Strong.

Very complex subject, yet somehow it all holds together in a coherent visual flow.

Hello Peter,
This is nice composition; I love your focus on the praying lady. And the blurred top part...riot of colors. I think I have seen that in one of the post by Rafal. Nice framing.

Hi Peter,
Very colourful image, nicely captured. The best thing is, the devotees seems to be oblivious to whats happening around them.

This is very good stuff Peter. Excellent progression of people into the heart of the photo. I love the crop, especially he upper left corner. The blur in the foreground is a bit distracting but its compensated for by the nice blur of the background. I guess its a case of give and take. F/2 eh? That can only mean one thing: prime lens. Nice, how do you like it?
Anyway, Im off to Jinju today so I wont be on TE much this weekend. You must wait for the jade:)

very strange, reading it from left to right, it made me feel like a collective collapse.
I almost had an unexplained urge to fall off of my seat and put my nose on my shoes.
very nicely half split photo : until now, the best use I've seen for that fantastic colorful background.

hi peter,
that one is good: the dof management is excellent - the eye goes step by step from over all of the models;
nice work really!
best wishes,

Good one Peter, I can more tha sympathize with this approach, it's exactly the kind of shot I strove to take again and again in Yangon (just back). Love the zany colors and the overflowing of fervid Korean faith...nuff said.
Cheers,
Francis

Hi Peter, I know I have been missing your postings...I will critique on your photos slowly slowly.
It is surprising to know that the colours in Korea are this bright and vivid. It is good to see people aren't looking at you, none of them are, and the quality of the photo is good enough, enough sharp and enough clear. Hmm, is it your camera thing or the pp thing....
