Photographer’s Note
This is a quiet scene from the festivities yesterday of Buddha's birthday. A carver works on a carving of Buddha. Those hands in the background made this hand in the foreground.

Clever double use of the hand motif in this, creator and artwork, rather reminiscent of the Sistine chapel.

Great contrast of hands, just love the look of the carving and the contours that run through it.

Hello Rafal
You succeed to capture the delicacy of the moment and also the love of the man for his work (Buddha carver).

I think Richard said the word that also came to my mind when trying to describe the framing of this one, Rafal - "clever". For the way in which you are opposing the two hands of the working artist and the artwork-in-progress. DOF works well, too, a good observation on this one.

Salut Rafal,
Le noir et blanc est très bien réussi !
J’adore le rapprochement entre les deux mains.
Une image très parlante, qui peut raconter plein de belles histoire !
Une réussite, une de plus !

Hand indeed, Rafal! A good detail shot you made, showing good texture, the cuts in the wood and the process in the background... all really good. I am glad you didn't get tempted to go wide open with this one, showing the real hands is important here. Well done.

Hi Rafal,
I like the opposition between the human and the wooden hand. The light is perfect to emphasize the work of the sculptor.
It is funny to see that you and David chose black and white to represent what was to be a colourful event. Good choice !

Hi Rafal,
I really like the symbolisym of the the hands of the carver carving buddha's hands. Truly any god is only as strong as his believers. You already have such wonderful critiques; I can't say it better than Norbert, "I think Richard said the word that also came to my mind when trying to describe the framing of this one, Rafal - "clever". For the way in which you are opposing the two hands of the working artist and the artwork-in-progress. DOF works well, too, a good observation on this one."

Rafal bonsoir - I like the difference of light between the white hand and the black hand, the DOF and the super focus on the wooden hand -
very well done
Thanks

Hi Rafal,
a good crop again, I know you love hands.
Here, my imagination is working...
Good focus on the first hand.
Well done
PS : I think that you remove too quickly sometimes your pictures from TE...

I took a very similar image to this on top of Grouse Mountain in Vancouver a week or so ago!! I went for a sharper feel to the whole image and it was a hand drawing rather than carving - at first I didn't like this one so much with the out of focus human hand but it's grown on me more and more and the mudra is so much more important in the composition - still very nice - the hand that speaks and the hand that does - the hand that speaks inspires the hand that does to create the hand that speaks enabling it to talk.......

That's a great idea and a beautiful image.
Your B&W is nice and appropriate to the scene ; the sharpness and the light on the hands gives a great and emotional effect.
All the best ,Rafal

Hello Rafal,
I like the composition very much. Very sharp indeed. I like the texture on the wooden hands! Its very nice. Its important that you have given importance to the hands only and making the picture a good one! Thanks for sharing.

Very clever Rafal, and I enjoy very much the slighlty OOF hand that made the hand in focus. I probably would have been tempted to go for the full on bokeh and missed this completely.

Hello Rafal,
Nice combination of real and fake. This is indeed an artwork, that can be used in many places, ads, magazine covers, sculpture, and so on. An truly IMAGE BANK picture for me.

Hi Rafal, Although I had a glance now and again at your gallery during my absence, I'm still impressed how many images I have missed and the problem is, every single one is worth commenting on. Such a body of fantastic work is exceptional and I hope you are moving out there to get work published, you should. Your work should be seen and not only to the TE audience. So far my small witticism. I think I wanted to start with this shot to comment on first because of the sensitivity it expresses, grace and passion. The carved hand situates this image without a doubt in Asia, which is quit sublime as there is no other indication. The strong and passionate hand of the carver conveys dedication, craftsmanship and creativity. So really, this image conveys rather well what you are doing yourself with your form of art. Absolutely brilliant work here. Sabine
