| This shot was taken at the gate house to Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, during the changing of the guard. I liked the cultural contrast of a busy modern Seoul and a people holding on to their past. |

hey matthew nice one u got many colors around the frame, only thing it would look much better if u would have placed the guard on right or left side of frame instead of center, rule of third
matthew, very interesting picture indeed. i have a lot of korean friends, and i've come to understand and appreciate your comment very much. your picture really reflects that sentiment. i agree with salil, though. the bus contrasts the man very well, so off-setting him w.r.t. the bus may help. you could probably improve the DOF a litte, too. if you camera didn't do such a good job, you could try doing it by manually blurring in photoshop. i'll try to post a workshop shortly.
Great start Mr.Bird. I think as you progress with your skills as a photographer you'll pick on some of the tricks of the trade. One of the Keys to a good portrait is to understand the rules of aperture. A telephoto lens with a larger aperture like F4.5 or something would be suffice to blur the background and make the subject really pop
Great shot Matt. Good contrast of colours.
